Rage Introduces Ghost Quiver

SUPERIOR, Wisconsin -The surprise introduction of the extremely lightweight, ultra-low-profile, multi-positional GHOST Quiver at the Archery Trade Association Show last month created a reaction quite the opposite of the silence it promises to bring to the hunting woods. The show was buzzing with talk of the slick new quiver and its deadly quiet Coffin Lock design. Specifically designed to securely hold five Rage-broadhead-tipped arrows, the GHOST is the first purpose-designed quiver to provide the ultimate piece of mind for the ever-growing expandable-broadhead-shooting crowd.
The GHOST Quiver features a faceted skeletal hood and transparent windows for easy viewing of your broadheads. There's no foam to interfere with your broadheads or trap blade-ruining moisture in this design. Rather, a 2-mm thick aliphatic urethane rubberized interior secures the broadhead tips, keeping the blades sharp and locked at all times. MuffleGrip over-molding on the hood and dual shaft grippers silence sound and deaden vibration, while holding arrow shafts firmly in place and allowing simple and quiet arrow removal.
When mounted, the ultra-low-profile GHOST Quiver adds no more than 2 inches to the width of your bow, providing for easier maneuverability in the woods. Branches and brush stand very little chance of hanging up on the GHOST as you move to and around in your stand. And tipping the scales at a mere 9 ounces, the GHOST is barely noticeable attached to your bow, minimizing its affect on balance.
The new proprietary Coffin Lock cam system securely locks the quiver in place by way of an ingenious coffin-shaped taper on the dovetailed interlock. The genius of this design is that it allows users to safely, quickly and intuitively remove or attach the GHOST Quiver, even in complete darkness. To ensure that this quiver fits everyone's ideal needs, the GHOST is ambidextrous and offers multi-positional mounting, allowing archers to customize the quiver alignment-up or down, fore or aft, canted or vertical-to best fit their individual preferences.
The Ghost Quiver is Rage-tested and Rage-approved, and it will be available at retailers this spring for $99.99. For more information, visit

Top-Notch Artists Create Ultimate In ’Fowl Foolery

By Taylor Wilson

It’s sort of a twisted story, really.

Decoys arose out of necessity—for waterfowlers to fool ducks into gun range.

And then, over time decoys became art (and quite collectible art as a matter of a fact).

Then today, well, artists are still designing decoys, and some of their more modern designs are again being designed more for use/necessity than for the showcase or shelf.

For example, Avery Outdoors ( was among the first, if not the first, company to begin manufacturing decoys designed by decoy artists. Indeed, the Memphis-based company’s new life-size Pro-Grade™ duck and goose decoys are designed via the original artwork of World Champion carvers Dick Rhode and Rick Johannesen.

Of course, based on that kind of creation, it is understandable that the detail is amazing (as well as, well, artistic). There are many various species in the line, all designed with a variety of unique body styles and head positions. For example the GHG Pro-Grade mallards have 12 body styles ranging from actives, resters, sleepers, surface feeders, skimmers and etc.

The GHC Pro-Grade specklebelly and Canada goose shells have five body styles.

And again, the detail in design and color is amazing.

“Are such measures needed to fool a duck?” That might be the question for some.

And one answer might be: “well, you don’t get much more realistic than this and not risk hunting over live decoys.” (And that might be true.)

Seeing these designer decoys on the water for the first time, hunters certainly have to look twice, and I imagine real ducks do, too.

True, sometimes it may not be needed. If a duck wants to be somewhere, if the weather is just right, well, it may not matter. They may land on a black jug like I hunted over as a kid.

But then on other days (and I think there are a lot more of these), the difference may very well be in the details.

In the Mid-South, we hunt ducks that are shot at for many miles before they even get to us. And if something isn’t “right” flocks are not likely to even give us a second look. The more real, the better the deal.

So designer decoys…there you have it. Something to think about and add to your duck hunting arsenal.

About Montana Decoy

Created in 1996 by Jerry McPherson, Montana Decoy got its start from an average hunter trying to improve his bowhunting success. Tormented by an uncooperative bull elk, McPherson returned to his truck, thinking about how he could design a packable decoy without adding bulk and weight. McPherson got inspiration from folding band saw blades. He utilized the same twist-and-fold concept to hold open the decoy image.

Montana Decoy offers turkey, elk, whitetail, mule deer, antelope and predator options along with a Moo Cow confidence decoy. All share the same ease of use, light weight and ultra realistic HD photography.
